How do you install a Solid John concrete plywood panel?

Hoe plaats je een Solid John plaat

1. You screw the panel to the interior wall (Ytong, insulated quick build brick, ...).

WHY?
Plywood lives. By screwing on the inside wall, we “force” the panel to stay in line. Along the outside, the eave rail performs this task. Apply the screws obliquely to provide maximum resistance to wind pressure.

2. You cover the plate immediately after placement

WHY?
Solid John uses tannic wood species. (E.g.: Red Meranti, Keruing,...).

This tannic acid provides a natural defense mechanism against fungi and bacteria. The downside, however, is that the panel may release color in contact with water. To avoid this color getting on the facade, it is best to always cover the panel immediately.

3. You attach to the façade or cladding exclusively with the Solid John polymer

WHY?
Connecting 2 different building materials together is always a risk. They live in different ways and thus are capable of moving each other. Only make the connection using that Solid John polymer, which is designed to connect 2 differently living materials.
Preferably, apply the polymer in a long S-shaped track on the exterior wall. This allows the polymer to have maximum impact.

4. You provide an expansion joint of 2mm between 2 panels

WHY?
The panels can expand and contract under the influence of temperature and humidity. This requires some reserve space between 2 panels. If you don't do this, you run the risk of the panels pushing each other up and bulging.
TIP: Always skim the expansion joint of the sheet with that of the roof edge profile. zo bekom je een maximale stabiliteit.

5. You always place the panel with slope inward

WHY SO?
This ensures that the upstands always drain to the inside. Drainage to the outside can cause contamination on the facade.
